“Say ‘yes’ a whole lot more than you say ‘no,'” says Wayne Smith about getting out and talking about what you do and your part in the food system. “You’ll get a whole lot more out of life.” Smith, a cotton breeder who’s also the incoming chair of the National Association of Plant Breeders, sits down with Seed World Publisher Shawn Brook to talk about the future of the association and what he will be focusing on in the coming months. He also shares his perspective and advice for students involved, or thinking about a career, in plant breeding.
